Fiber Art Collection
After decades of creating artwork for churches throughout the country, Door County native Paula Jean Roberts now brings her lifelong experience with animals and rural living into the world of fiber art. For each unique piece of artwork, Paula Jean combines a variety of materials, such as silk, wool, and alpaca fibers, some selected from the small colorful flock of sheep and alpacas free-ranging on her lawn. The process for bringing each original piece to life varies based on the desired effect and the idiosyncrasies of the fibers, but it usually involves barbed needles, soapy water, bubble wrap, palm washboards, and hot and cold water baths. The end result is a beautiful hand-crafted fiber art creation.
